Job Overview:
Summary: The O & M Manager is responsible for managing operating assets: ensuring maximum uptime and optimal production, overseeing Maintenance, interfacing with O&M and Services Providers and providing necessary information and reporting to lenders, regulatory organizations as well as local, state and federal regulators. The O&M Manager needs to ensure the performance of Sunpin’s renewable assets and that company personnel, contractors and consultants adhere to the company’s HSSE (health, safety, security and environment) managed systems. The position is based out of Irvine, California. Candidate will be traveling to site whenever needed.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Responsible for the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of solar farms.

Keep current on reporting for energy regulatory agencies including PUCs, FERC, and EIA.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for investors and lenders.

Analyze the financial performance of operating solar farms.

Analyze production data for operating solar farms.

Manage & Schedule contractors responsible to monitor and operate solar and storage assets from our Irvine headquarters

Coordinate with contracted Field Operations, Engineers, Vendors and Customers in order to operate the assets safely and effectively

Draft and implement operational protocols in collaboration with Field Operations, Customers and support teams

Manages and supervises the operation and maintenance function of the plants. Directs the planning and scheduling to ensure appropriate maintenance for all equipment, and systems in the plant and at our remote renewable generation sites.

Manages and directs all plant maintenance functions (in coordination with contractor) monitoring budget, planning work orders, scheduling work orders, and keeping records for plant activities, environmental correspondence, and unit evaluations.

Assist in the preparation of the annual capital and O&M budgets and monitor budget variances.

Assures that all work orders are performed on schedule and schedules are updated based on priority of work.

Assist in development and implementation of operation and maintenance program, training, preventive & predictive maintenance, “-“material management and safety.

Prepare monthly reports regarding operations and maintenance activities.

Assures that an adequate preventive and predictive maintenance program is established and monitors the preventive maintenance program for effectiveness.
Education/Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline
-
5+ years of Remote Operations experience preferred
-
2+ years as Asset Manager or Maintenance Manager and/or complementary combination of education and experience in a service environment that includes electrical systems and power generation plants
-
In depth knowledge of NERC FERC requirements/regulations

Thorough knowledge of both Renewable Energy power plant operations and the equipment used within those Energy generating sites

Familiarity with utility-scale electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications

Understanding of the relevant electrical codes, building codes, and permitting procedures for medium and large-scale solar projects

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational capabilities • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% domestically

Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory licenses, permits, and codes of operation and conduct;

Promote a culture of continuous improvement at all sites, identifying opportunities for process/capital improvements;

Provide strategic direction and leadership to achieve the region’s goals and objectives; responsible for Key Performance Indicators of the Pacific Operations team;

Ensure assets are properly maintained and efficiently operated in order to achieve revenue and production goals.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Good knowledge of basic principles of power generation/electrical principles and instrument/controls.

Strong interest in renewable energy, especially solar

Understanding of administration, accounting principles and personnel management.

Able to perform advanced mathematical functions (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics).

Able to read and understand complex technical information such as engineering specifications, contracts, trade journals, equipment specifications and instructions.

Good communication skills, both oral and written.

Able to use conflict resolution skills.

Skilled at meeting deadlines and setting priorities.

Basic understanding of modern distributed control systems (DCS).

Able to make critical decision with little or no supervision.

Proficient at extracting and summarizing large amounts of data, and analyzing information within contracts

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment

Salary $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 annually depending on experience, qualifications and competencies

Employee frequently balances, engages in repetitive motions (kneeling, reaching) and uses a respirator. Employee may occasionally remain sedentary. Employee operates job related equipment and tools. Employee routinely performs this work for an average of 8-12 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is expected.
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include light work. The employee is continuously moving about the job site or office space. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of reaching and moving controls exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Work environment: Occasionally perform work indoors and routinely perform work outdoors in sometimes inclement weather with moderate to high noise level. Worker may be subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height or close quarters (i.e., crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, narrow aisles of passageways). Worker may be subject to vibration such as oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. Willing to travel up to 10% (e.g., 2 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job and the employee must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.
